My greatest blessing is my children. They are not perfect, but I love their hearts and passion. Silas, my oldest son decided to place a challenge on Facebook called the Dylan Double Dog Dare. He is asking people to donate to Dylan’s adoption and they can DARE him to do anything. He has such a heart for people and it brought tears to my eyes when he placed all $86.00 from his piggy-bank into the Dylan Jar. My first thought was to tell him, “No, save your money for something you’ve been wanting, your dad and I are responsible for the money.” Then I stepped back and realized what I was doing. I was taking away the blessing of giving. My son wanted to sacrifice his earnings and I almost stopped him. It’s so easy to make the way “easy” for our children. We want to protect them from pain and we desire giving them a great childhood filled with warm memories and joy. So, today I am stepping back and letting my son Double Dog Dare people. His unwavering faith that God will provide for Dylan through this is inspiring to me. My own faith can seem so weak at times and I am often fearful. However, I will watch my son have the faith of a child and let God work mighty things.
