I have been profoundly impacted by the verse Mathew 20:28. It says that, “the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and give his life as a ransom for many.” So many times I have asked if I am living my life with that kind of assurance and love. I decided to name this blog Ransom for Israel, because this is what it truly is about. Darren and I have decided to adopt a child who is in desperate need. We are asking for support because the hope for his future is bleak. If he is not adopted, he is bound to an institution. We are stepping out to raise the “ransom” for Israel. Israelis a special needs child living in an orphanage in Bulgaria. He needs medical care, therapies, and a family. After much prayer, Darren and I have decided to step out in complete faith. We are going to adopt Israel and bring him home. It will be a costly journey and will require much of our resources and time, but we are excited!
As I’m writing this, I am thinking how crazy it all sounds. I am sure many will look at this in disbelief. We will get the questions we have always received about our adoptions. What about your own kids? How are you going to do this and everything else you do? Don’t you know that this child could be living with you the rest of his life? You can’t save every child, what are you doing? The answer is of course I have at times been drowned by these same doubts. However, I know that God has called me to live a life of assurance. HE is in control and I rest in this. I love my Lord and Savior, I trust my Lord and Savior. I will go where I am asked to go, and I am being asked to go to Bulgaria. So as crazy as it seems, I am strapping myself in for this ride. I hope you will join us in prayer, support and love in this newest adventure.
